Talk:CNVC Board Members

I heard some conversation at the June meeting about whether the staff representative is legally a board member, or isn't but is being treated informally like one (as Liz is if i understand correctly). Can someone clear this up for me? --John Abbe 12:30, 17 July 2006 (CEST)

My current understanding is that GCC reps (including Angelique during her term, and now replaced by Danielle as sociocratically elected staff rep) are full voting members of the CNVC Board. What's in doubt right now is whether they also want to be legally liable for membership on a U.S. nonprofit. The solution I've proposed is that we first change the name of Board to GCC, to indicate the change from internally elected members to globally elected representatives. This to me is a period of transition. I'm confident that within a few months we will have more GCC reps, a new name (GCNVC?) that refers to the global part of what the Board now does, a name change (USCNVC?) for the nonprofit that also indicates this transition, and a distinction between the Board for the US nonprofit and the global governing body. The current CNVC office might keep that name, and presumably would continue to serve the entire global NVC community. Next my guess is that the US non-profit Board would formalize some inter-relationship with the global rep governing body, as might other regional or national organizations. All of this is only my sense of how things might evolve, and I welcome both your interest and any suggestions. -John W. 22:44, 18 July 2006 (CEST)
