Networking and Community Building for Nonviolent Communication in the United States
What, when and where is it?
Compassion In Action is a 3 day residential conference.
Friday, June 30 - Sunday, July 2, 2006 at
Mills College
in Oakland, California.

- if flying into San Francisco (SFO), you can use BART (http://www.bart.gov) to get to Oakland.

What is the purpose?
The focus of this gathering is to support the spread of NVC communities throughout the United States by enhancing community-building skills and connection among diverse people and values.
- Develop culture where conflict is not seen as a problem, but as part of the natural flow.
- Mentor new communities by older communities
- setting up a 501c(3) organization; hiring staff
- what goes into an intro training packet
- experience with evolution of practice groups
Also address how we in the US can be a part of a global community.

We will utilize Open Space Technology to maximize
choice and learning for the group. (From

- education initiatives
- restorative justice
- NVC & research
- Prisons
- NVC & money
- NVC and parenting with Inbal Kashtan
- NVC Dance Floors
- NVC EcoVillage (connecting, visioning, planning)
We are delighted that a Playback Theater troupe from Boston is coming with the hope of illustring how improv techniques and NVC can support each other. There will be a performance during the weekend.

Why does it say "United States"? Why limit the scope?
A primary motivation for many of us involved in this project is promoting NVC in the US to help support major cultural and political shifts here, recognizing how the US's choices in many realms (political, economic and others) profoundly impacts much of the world.
