Inspiration vs. Motivation

I have not seen this as a key differentiation before, however it's a big one in my life that NVC has given great clarity I'm offering it here for discussion and feedback.

To me, inspiration is giraffe and motivation is jackal, at least as I define those terms. Inspiration is doing something out of a life energy of seeing how needs will be met, while motivation is trying to "get myself to do something" without regard to whether some of my needs will not be met by doing so.

One example of motivation I see in the world is people forcing themselves to exercise more, which lasts for a week or two but then falls by the wayside. I suspect often it's because some of their needs are not met by going to the gym or jogging or whatever, and sooner or later those needs overpower needs for health and energy.

Any comments?
